Teaching math can be a source of stress for many teachers, including the best of homeschoolers. It's easy to get sidetracked by what others are doing. By what standardized tests are demanding. And by what textbooks are outlining. But we teach math because we want our kids to learn to think mathematically...to develop concepts and skills that will benefit them for a lifetime.
I've been thinking about the principle of "first do no harm" and how it applies to the teaching of mathematics. Come on over and read a version of the Hippocratic Oath for math teachers.
